I am not sure what is going on with the front team, but sharing this as feedback for improvement. There needs to be better training on organization and communication skills in front management especially when dealing with patient follow up and care.
I am a surviving spouse whose husband died honorably in line of duty. As imagined my life has been in shambles since he left, but I am blessed to have my parents as part of my huge support system. It is really frustrating and draining that I am not getting the proper attention for my elderly parents and they help they need and deserve like everyone else of course.
I think the staff might need some help in the morale department or SOMETHING because they sound extremely in over their heads. Please, take care of your staff so they can take care of us. My mom has lupus and had a scary episode where she was left without breath for about 5 minutes. The Dr. ordered 4 different tests to ensure everything is in order but instead of ensuring my mom understood what she needed to do, she just got incomplete information from the front.
One of the receptionist merely handed 4 different orders of four different tests that my mom needed to get done without asking her questions if she needed any clarification or without any instructions. My mother left with partial information. Because they are older, I help them with appointments but it was so frustrating to figure out that Arthritis Associates did not take care of her properly and I had to spend close to 3 hours trying to set up all tests only to find out that, the office needed to FIRST REFER her to a cardiologist AND a pulmonologist to get her much needed necessary tests done.
No one likes to go in circles, and no on likes to play hot potatoe with the phone. I had to call back to the office today, only to find out that my call from last week, was not even noted. I was told last week that I was going to get a call from the nurse to help me know which offices my mother needed to go to and to help me set her up but since that did not happen , I called today after trying myself to get them set up and only to be rejected each time because Arthritis Associates did not complete their necessary steps.
Thank God I talked to Chris today whose accountability and people skills were exceptional and said he marked my message as an urgent message to get called back. I really hope this wasn't just something that was just said to get us "off their plate" but because he actually was transparent with me about the hiccup that happened, I highly doubt it.
PLEASE. We are all human, I worked as a medical assistant for 3 years and understand the pressures from all places that go into working for patients. Please take care of your team because they are not machines, and the people that pay the prices are the patients. And respectfully, that is unacceptable. I should not have to be bounced back and forth from different facilities for near 3 hours to get a PFT test scheduled or an echocardiogram. Time is golden. Every life is important. As a widow, I want to take advantage of every moment I have with my parents, and the lack of properly educating patients and getting them set up successfully for any critical tests, gets in the way of that. As their helper, I am very concerned about my mother's health and it is just disheartening , frustrating and draining to get her the tests and medical attention she needs when we are not provided with necessary information and tools to do so.

He and his staff are always welcoming with a smile they make you feel comfortable as for the doctor he is a good listener always with a smile he has been a great doctor to me and I would recommend him to anyone that needs his kind of treatment.

I have been a patient of Dr. Wickersham's for 15 years, and today was my first opportunity to visit with Alison Polston. It was evident from the start that she was an engaged, caring, and highly competent individual. She was welcoming and absolutely available to address every concern with knowledge and claritiy. Most importantly, I felt that I was in the presence of a truly empathetic individual who was not watching the clock. This positivivity has been my experience since starting with Dr. Wickershersham, and Alison just confirms that there is no better team for my care than this!
